Anyone who knows Akwasi (Kwaz) knows he doesn’t lack in confidence or drive. The confidence being a product of the drive. Kwaz invests himself 110% into whatever he does and the neck breaking sport of the skeleton is no exception. This is no venture for the half hearted and hesitant types. The sport is full of individuals that throw their bodies down an ice tube at speeds of 80+ MPH so naturally an individual that engages in this behavior deserves to look just as explosive while doing it.
Being Ghanaian it’s only fitting that his nationality be represented first and foremost. The Ghanaian Kente pattern represents his love for his heritage while at the same demonstrating his boldness through the vibrant yellow, green and red abstracted shapes. The configuration of the design at first glance creates an sense of unstoppable energy, which is very accurate, but the underlying concept hearkens back to a tactic used in naval warfare during the First World War. Hulls of battleships were decorated in multi-directional zig zagging lines that would disorient and confuse potential enemy attackers, giving the camouflaged ship the upper hand.
Well, Kwaz has suited up and is ready for a challenge and PyeongChang 2018 is in his sights.
